'It's like a Sentence before the Sentence' - Exploring the Pains and Possibilities of Waiting for Imprisonment

This article explores the implications of the ‘imprisonment queue’ in Norway. Based on interview data (N = 200), we show that while interviewees waiting to serve their sentences enjoy certain benefits such as being able to prepare for or negotiate the terms of their imprisonment, they also suffer from uncertainty and powerlessness. The suspension of their lives while they wait hinders them in pursuing their ground projects, things that really matter to them. This peculiar phenomenon has not received attention from prison scholars generally, as well as scholars writing on Nordic Exceptionalism specifically. Exploring early adolescents’ stressful IT use experiences

Early adolescents are accustomed to using information technology (IT) for different purposes as a part of their everyday life. While IT use can provide many benefits, it can also include negative experiences, such as feelings of stress (i.e. technostress). Considering that young IT users’ technostress perspectives have remained limited in the literature, this paper attempts to contrast their experiences with aspects from earlier research. Televisión Española (TVE) has made possible the dissemination of medical topics in the 2016 season through four specialized health programs: Saber vivir, Centro médico, Esto es vida and El ojo clínico. In order to better understand their reception by spectators, this study analyzes, on the one hand, the data from the audiometry and, on the other hand, the results of a survey launched through social networks. The present article aims to examine critically Laclau’s claim that the trend toward social heterogenization revokes the Dialectic, or, more specifically, the clear and strict line of demarcation between what falls within the Dialectic and what falls outside of it. Polemicizing with the assumption of this reading, I argue that the appearance of a radical heterogeneity rather exposes the undecidability of relations between the Dialectic and what is a heterogeneity. In this paper, we have used the exceptional circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic as a window for investigating the ambivalent, stereotypical and often-incongruent portrayals of exceptional vulnerability and resilient self-management that define the self-constructions available for older adults. Cet article se propose d'étudier les réponses offertes par la politique fiscale en Amérique latine dans la situation actuelle " d'atterrissage en douceur ". En fait, il apparaît que la région est exposée à un risque de choc externe de pays développés et la Chine à un risque politique. Dans ces conditions, la politique fiscale a un rôle important à jouer pour gérer ces risques en se centrant sur ses fonctions de stabilisation et de distribution. En outre, nous proposons un système de plusieurs mesures pour chaque fonction. Enfin, nous démontrons que les pays latino-américains ne souffrent pas de contrainte du financement pour appliquer nos recommandations.

Emotional Profile and Intellectual Functioning

Insufficient literature has been produced addressing children with borderline intellectual functioning (BIF) and gifted intellectual functioning (GIF). The goal of this work is to compare levels of self-esteem, depression, anxiety at school, and insecurity among children with BIF and GIF, and a control group of average intellectual functioning (AIF). There were participants of 104 children (fourth grade of primary school). Analyses revealed that children with BIF showed a lower level of self-esteem and higher levels of depression and school anxiety. Sequence analysis is increasingly used in the social sciences for the holistic analysis of life-course and other longitudinal data. The usual approach is to construct sequences, calculate dissimilarities, group similar sequences with cluster analysis, and use cluster membership as a dependent or independent variable in a regression model. This approach may be problematic, as cluster memberships are assumed to be fixed known characteristics of the subjects in subsequent analyses.
